When I started off my self development journey, I was very depressed and severely anxious.
I struggled with money.
I struggled with relationships.
In fact, I struggled with almost everything that counts in life.
It’s now been eight years since I started on my self development journey and I have learned so much about myself and about the world and about my place in the world.
And today, I want to share with you 4 simple questions that will help you to start your self-development journey.
Now, these questions are designed to help you bring awareness to what you want out of life and then help you design a plan to get there.
So, make sure you take some notes and let’s jump right in!
Question 1: What Is Your Ideal Future?
So, what is your ideal future?
In a world where everything is possible for you, what would you want your life to look like?
What job would you be working in?
Who would you be in a relationship with or married to?
What kind of person would you be?
What would your relationship with your family be like?
How much money would you want to earn?
What would your health be like?
What would your physical body look like?
Don’t filter yourself.
Just take some time and really think about what you want your ideal future to look like.
Everything that you could possibly think of, just put it all together into your ideal future and try and create a very vivid picture for yourself.
Whether you want to be the richest man in the world or just live a quiet life of peace, access that deep desire and write it down with complete freedom.
Take as much time as you need and, when you’re done, move on to Question Two.
Question Two: Where Are You Right Now In Your Life?
What is your current reality?
Where are you right now?
Before you can go anywhere in life, you must know where you currently are.
Otherwise, it’s like trying to read a map without knowing where you are.
So, you need to be brutally honest with yourself.
If you are a hundred pounds overweight from your target body, you need to be honest with yourself.
If you don't have the money that you need to reach your goal then you need to tell yourself that you do not have the money right now.
You need to be 100% truthful with yourself.
Because once you’ve done that, you’ll have created two sets of coordinates that will lead you to your ideal future life.
You've already got your destination coordinates your ideal future.
So, now you need to have your current coordinates of where you are right now in complete objective reality.
Quick Tip: If you want help with this, you can ask friends or family or people that you really trust and people whose opinion you value. Get them to be brutally honest with you about where you are right now.
And once you've done that, then you can move on to question number three,
Question 3: What Stands In The Way of Your Ideal Future?
What stands in the way of you getting from where you are now to where you want to be in the future?
What could stand in your way?
What kind of people in your life might try to drag you back down?
Or what kinds of situations might occur that could prevent you from achieving your goals?
It’s important to note that this is not an exercise about giving away your personal power to other people, circumstances or fate.
This is an honest assessment of what will get in your way so that you can bulldoze through those obstacles towards your ideal future life.
Because the great thing about obstacles is once you know where they are, you can work to destroy them.
So spend some time thinking about the obstacles, hurdles and problems that may occur on the way to your ideal future.
And, when you’re ready, move on to the final question.
Question 4: What Are You Going To Do About It?
What are you going to do about it?
Or more specifically, what are you going to do about it today?
I don't agree with Tony Robbins on a lot of things, but one thing I do agree with is that when you set an intention or a huge goal like this then you need to take action right away to start to build that momentum.
My personal success formula is simply this:
(Small Wins x Time = Massive Success).
You see, it’s the small actions that you take every single day that build up over time and create a big win.
You lose the weight by taking small actions such as:
- Going for a daily walk;
- Swapping a chocolate bar for a healthy snack;
- Hitting that extra rep in the gym, even though your muscles are burning
At the time, these actions don’t seem like much.
But one thousand small actions add up and they’re far easier to do than any massive action.
So, you need to take that first action step straight away.
What do you need to do to create success?
Start working on your action plan and success will be yours.
These four questions have been instrumental during my own self-development journey.
I wouldn’t be who I was today if I didn’t ask and answer these questions.
This is where it all begins:
With an absolute brutal assessment of where you are right now and where you want to be so that you can create a plan to reach your ideal future.
I believe that anyone can create their ideal future.
And every single action gets you just a little bit closer to where you want to be.
So, I would encourage you to sit down, go through these four questions today or over the course of the next week or month.
Really get a good idea of where you are and where you want to go.
Know your obstacles and then create an action plan to crush them.
You can achieve amazing things in your life!
And I look forward to seeing you on the other side of that some day very soon!
